It’s spring cleaning time, which means it’s time to give your vehicle a little extra attention before the heat of summer arrives! Stop by your auto shop to have your vehicle inspected so that you know you are driving as safely as possible, especially if you are planning a summer road trip.

Even though your car may seem to be running okay, there could be problems hidden under the hood. To ensure a stress-free road trip, ask your auto shop to make that you have taken care of all recommended vehicle maintenance items at the appropriate interval, as well as any needed repair, whether big or small.

Here’s a list of five common auto service issues to have checked out:

  • Leaking Fluids. Dark brown spots (leaking engine oil) or greenish fluid (leaking coolant/antifreeze from the radiator) under the car means you could end up with an overheating engine, leading to damage in the engine.
  • Noisy Brakes. Squealing, squeaking, or metal-on-metal grinding sounds coming from your brakes are signs that your brake pads, rotors, or calipers and discs have become worn out and need to be replaced.
  • Unusual Sounds. A hole in the muffler or other problems in the exhaust system will cause rumbling or sputtering sounds. Chirping or screeching sounds coming from under the hood may be the drive belt or serpentine belt that has become brittle and frayed.
  • Roaring Tires. Humming, growling, or roaring tires are signs that the tread has worn down too far, a wheel bearing has gone bad, or the tires are out-of-round.
  • Dashboard lights. If your dash warning lights start flashing, your car’s onboard diagnostic system is alerting you to problems. Contact your auto shop to schedule a diagnostic test.

Remember: Schedule an inspection at your auto service center so your vehicle is ready for summer!
