An overheating engine can cause a long list of problems and will require an urgent engine service. Sometimes you may not even know if your engine is overheating. Today we will discuss how to tell if your car engine is overheating.

What exactly is an overheating engine? Engines naturally get hot but your car has a few features that maintain the temperature and cool it down. The easiest way to know whether or not your engine is overheating is to locate the indicator on the dashboard that tells you. Located near to the speedometer there should be a meter that will show you the temperature of your vehicle. The needle should be pointing towards the cold side when you first start your vehicle. During the time that you drive your car, you will notice that the meter will move. This means that your car is heating up. If you find that the meter goes beyond the middle of hot and cold then your engine may be overheating. The cooling system should keep the meter right between hot and cold.

Wondering how to tell if your car engine is overheating? Call Big Lake Automotive & schedule an engine service now so no more damage can occur to your engine.
